Palestinian Prime Minister; Dr. Salam Fayad inauguarated the conference, in the presence of Dr.Shaddad Al Attili, Misinter of the Palestinian Water Authority, and Eng. Mousa Jamani, Minister of Water & Irrigation, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
The conference discussed best practices for good water governance, considering the exceptional difficulties that face the water sector in Palestine. Palestinian Prime Minister Dr. Salam Fayyad stated: “the israeli occupation is the main obstacle that hinder the availability of water resources for palestinian citizens due to the unjust and inequality of water distribution, which was clearly stated in the “AMNESTY” report and the world bank statistics which proved that with figures: “the share of one israeli to a palestinian is equal to (20:1)”.
The participants also discussed the difficult water situation in Gaza Strip, and recommended practical solutions like th desalination station project.
They have also praised the efforts of Nablus Municipality in enhancing the good management through the water pipes to non-revenue water
The German Development Bank (kfw), and German Association for Water, wastewater and waste (DWA), the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) were represented in this conference.
Mr. Adli Ya’ish (Governor of Nablus), Eng. Emad Al Zeer (the head of the water union service providers), Mr. Nadim Mulhem (GIZ, Water Project Manager) attended the conference and presented water problems in palestine each one from their position.
