“Standards of Operation and Maintenance in the Arab Region”
Press Release available in English & Arabic) Operating and Maintenance Procedures act as risk management measures which will reflect positively on delivering the service to consumers; where the quality and quantity of distributed water will improve as these procedures are being applied. Accordingly, the efficiency and skills of the operating workers will improve. This conference was held in cooperation with the Ministry of Water and Irrigation and under the patronage of the Minister of Water and Irrigation, H.E Eng. Raed Abu Saud. About 100 Arab water experts attended this conference; they exchanged expertise in developing operation and maintenance procedures & applications, discussed new approaches to improve the efficiency of the Operation and Maintenance systems. By the end of the conference, the documentation of the lessons learned and the collection of the best standards of Operation and Maintenance procedures was shared with all the participants. The conference focused at: 1- setting Standards of Operation and Maintenance Procedures especially for wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, dams and water distribution networks, 2- coping with emergencies and other tasks, as well as 3- applying the SOMPs.
