Overview of the Action
The objective is to work with UNICEF and other partners (the World Bank, ICRC, GIZ and CMI) to develop tools and practical guidance that enable utilities to:

  • Better prepare for emergencies and conflict.
  • Manage operation during conflict to minimize service deterioration.
    Recover from conflict situations rapidly.

Objectives of the action

  • Capturing and documenting the best practices in management of water trucking operations demonstrating the nexus.
  • Documenting the historic and current flow in the 3 MENA River systems demonstrating the breakdown of flows to demonstrate the past and current shares consumed/passed to respective riparian states.

Results of the action (Outcomes & outputs)
Case study materials in a resource book for utilities managing through crisis to draw on and expert advice from across a range of countries (Syria, Yemen, Jordan, Iraq, and Egypt) in the fields which are: Water Trucking Impact and Transboundary Water Resources Management.
